Kyrgyzstan Launches First Domestic Thermoplastic Plant to Boost Road Infrastructure

Kyrgyzstan has officially launched its first-ever domestic production facility for thermoplastic materials used in road markings in a significant step toward strengthening national infrastructure and industrial capacity.

The milestone project, carried out through a partnership between the Ministry of Transport and Communications’ Production and Innovation Center and private sector partner Vokko LLC, is based in the Sokuluk district at a 1,000-square-meter production facility provided for the initiative, The Caspian Post informs via Kyrgyz ministry.

According to the ministry, the new plant is now fully equipped and operational. It houses two industrial mills for processing key raw materials such as dolomite, state-of-the-art production lines, and a quality control laboratory that meets national standards.

The launch of domestic thermoplastic production marks a turning point for Kyrgyzstan, which had previously depended entirely on imported road-marking materials. The move is expected to reduce logistics costs, improve material quality, and enhance the durability and safety of the country’s road infrastructure.

The thermoplastic material produced at the plant is engineered for long-lasting performance, with a lifespan of up to three years and a one-year product warranty. It will be delivered directly to road construction sites throughout Kyrgyzstan, providing both cost-effective and reliable solutions for traffic safety.

"This project is of strategic importance for the Kyrgyz Republic’s infrastructure development. It supports public-private partnerships, boosts local manufacturing, creates employment opportunities, and contributes to improving road safety nationwide," the ministry said in its official statement.

In addition to meeting domestic needs, the ministry revealed that there are plans to pursue export opportunities, potentially establishing Kyrgyzstan as a regional supplier of high-quality thermoplastic materials for road infrastructure.

The plant's opening not only supports national development goals but also demonstrates growing industrial innovation and international competitiveness in Kyrgyzstan’s construction and transport sectors.
