Kyrgyzstan and Pakistan are moving to deepen economic ties, with the two countries aiming to increase bilateral trade to $200 million within the next one to two years.

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who is on an official visit to Bishkek, held talks with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov. The sides discussed strengthening political dialogue and expanding trade and economic cooperation, according to

A key focus of the talks was the development of joint projects in the transport and energy sectors, as well as broader efforts to strengthen economic connectivity between the two countries.

Sharif said the two sides intend to move from agreements to the practical implementation of joint projects, signaling a push to turn bilateral commitments into concrete initiatives.

The sides also exchanged views on pressing international and regional issues.

Following the talks, Japarov and Sharif signed a Joint Statement outlining their shared priorities.

In addition, Kyrgyzstan and Pakistan signed 15 bilateral documents, including a Cooperation Program between their foreign ministries for 2026-2027.

The agreements are expected to provide a new framework for expanding political, economic, transport and energy cooperation between Bishkek and Islamabad.
