Kyrgyzstan’s Osh Mayor Buys Home for 67-Year-Old Woman Living in Park for 20 Years

Mayor of Kyrgyzstan’s Osh city, Zhenishbek Toktorbaev, has provided a new house to Gulbara Abdrayeva, a 67-year-old woman who spent nearly 20 years living in Alisher Navoi Park.

For two decades, Abdrayeva made her home in a temporary shelter within the park, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kyrgyz media.

During that time, she helped maintain the area’s cleanliness, worked at a public restroom, and engaged in small-scale street vending to support herself. Despite extremely difficult living conditions, she succeeded in raising two children, assisting them both attain higher education and build families of their own.

Moved by her story, Mayor Toktorbaev took personal initiative to assist. He purchased a two-room apartment for Abdrayeva, finally offering her a stable and dignified living situation after years of hardship.
