Kyrgyzstan will send humanitarian assistance valued at 6.87 million soms ($568,890) to Afghanistan, following an official order signed by Adylbek Kasymaliev, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers.
The aid package includes critical food supplies such as 90 tons of first-grade flour, 15 tons of sugar, and 15 tons of vegetable oil. In addition, children’s clothing and toys will be purchased to support families affected by the recent disaster, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations will manage the transportation and customs clearance processes. Supplies will be replenished from a dedicated special fund, and the aid will be provided from Kyrgyzstan’s material reserves.
To guarantee the safe delivery of aid, the State Committee for National Security has been assigned to secure the humanitarian cargo and accompanying personnel throughout their journey across Afghanistan, taking into account the challenging security situation in the region.
This relief effort follows the devastating magnitude 6 earthquake that struck Afghanistan on the night of September 1. The epicenter was located approximately 27.3 kilometers from Jalalabad, near the border with Pakistan. The earthquake resulted in the tragic loss of more than 2,200 lives.
