OSCE Secretary General Plans Official Visit to Kyrgyzstan

OSCE Secretary General Feridun Sinirlioglu is planning an official visit to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

Such a statement was made during a meeting between Meder Abakirov, Deputy Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan, and Volker Frobarth, Head of the OSCE Programme Office in the Kyrgyz Republic, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.

The talks focused on cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe and identified priority areas of engagement for 2026.

The sides also discussed the possibility of future visits to Bishkek by senior OSCE officials, including the Director of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) and the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media. The Kyrgyz side expressed its readiness to provide full organizational support for such visits.

In addition, the diplomats exchanged views on regional initiatives related to border cooperation and confidence-building measures in Central Asia, underscoring Bishkek’s continued interest in strengthening dialogue with the OSCE on security, governance, and regional stability.
