The police department in Kyrgyzstan's capital Bishkek has opened a criminal case after an attempted assault on a 7-year-old girl in the residential area of Ak-Bosogo.
The emergency services were alerted after a suspect tried to commit a sexual assault. The incident was reported to the “102” emergency line, The Caspian Post reports via Kyrgyz media.
Local residents intervened and detained the suspect at the scene before police arrived. A rapid response team from the First-May District police department was immediately dispatched to the area.
The suspect, identified as a 23-year-old man, was taken into custody and placed in a temporary detention facility in Bishkek.
A criminal case has been launched under charges of attempted rape, and investigators are currently carrying out further procedures, including a forensic medical examination.
