Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov has made an official visit to Baku.
As part of the visit, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Olzhas Bektenov, who conveyed warm greetings from President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, The Caspian Post reports citing Kazinform.
Due to trust-based relations of the two countries’ presidents, Kazakhstan-Azerbaijan cooperation moved to a brand-new level of partnership.
During the intergovernmental talks with the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, Ali Asadov, the sides discussed the issues of trade-economic cooperation, interaction in transport and logistics sector and cultural-humanitarian ties development.
In 2024, commodity turnover between the two countries reached $533 million. Kazakhstan is ready to boost export of 130 non-primary goods to Azerbaijan to the amount of over $340 million.
Special attention was given to the interaction in transport-logistics sector. In 2024, the volume of cargo transportation along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route increased by 62% and hit 4.5 million tons. The two countries' railway administrations have completed the integration of the Digital Trade Corridor platform.
The parties reaffirmed their intention to exert every effort to raise the bilateral commodity turnover to a higher level.
Following the meeting, a number of bilateral documents was signed, such as a design and construction of an underwater fiber-optic communication line on the Kazakhstan-Azerbaijan route. The project is of strategic importance for raising the quality and reliability of communication, expansion of data transmission between Asia and Europe.
The sides also explored interaction in cultural-humanitarian sector. The Azerbaijani side highly assessed Kazakhstan’s contribution to the process of restoration of Karabakh.
Previously, it was reported that Azerbaijan's trade turnover with CIS countries from January to July 2024 surpassed $6.9 billion.
