Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Russian President Vladimir Putin met in Bishkek on August 31 to discuss further development of bilateral relations based on comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance.

The talks were held during Mirziyoyev’s working visit to Kyrgyzstan, according to the Uzbek presidential press service, The Caspian Post reports, citing UzDaily.

The two leaders noted the dynamic growth of trade and economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia. Since the beginning of 2026, bilateral trade turnover has increased by 12%.

The countries are continuing to implement major joint projects in industry, energy, metallurgy, transport and other priority sectors of the economy.

Mirziyoyev and Putin stressed the importance of maintaining the positive momentum in bilateral trade and accelerating the implementation of industrial cooperation projects. They also highlighted the need to further expand active ties between the regions of Uzbekistan and Russia.

The presidents also discussed expanding cultural and humanitarian exchanges between the two countries.

In addition, Mirziyoyev and Putin reviewed the schedule of upcoming bilateral and multilateral events.
