Ukraine’s Kharkiv city has come under intense bombardment as Russian forces launched a wave of ballistic missiles and guided aerial bombs, causing widespread destruction and injuring at least six people.
Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov confirmed that the city was hit in a coordinated assault combining multiple forms of weaponry, The Caspian Post informs via Ukrainian media.
“Kharkiv is facing a combined strike,” Terekhov said. “Preliminary reports indicate that guided aerial bombs hit the city’s Kyivskyi district, while ballistic missile launches have also been recorded targeting Kharkiv and its surrounding suburbs.”
Initial reports indicated two injuries in the Kyivskyi district following a bomb strike. However, the situation escalated as additional explosions rocked both the Kyivskyi and Saltivskyi districts, destroying private homes, garages, and triggering several fires. One blaze was reported at a local market, further complicating emergency response efforts.
By 3:58 a.m. (GMT+3), Mayor Terekhov confirmed that the number of injured had risen to six. Emergency crews continue to assess the damage and respond to fires and structural collapses across affected areas.
