Russian, US Top Diplomats to Hold Key Meeting at UN General Assembly

Russian Ambassador to the UN Vasily Nebenzya has confirmed that Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio are set to hold a meeting during the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

While the specifics of the meeting remain undisclosed, Nebenzya stated that the two officials are expected to discuss a wide array of bilateral and multilateral issues, The Caspian Post reports via Russian media.

“There is no formal agenda yet, but the meeting is planned,” he added.

This upcoming encounter follows their previous meeting on July 10 at the ASEAN Summit in Malaysia, where the resolution of the Ukraine conflict was the main focus.

On August 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin appointed Lavrov as the head of Russia’s delegation to the 80th UN General Assembly.
