Trump Ready to Hit Russia with Tough Sanctions

US President Donald Trump has stated that he is willing to impose significant sanctions on Russia, provided all NATO members agree to stop purchasing Russian oil and take similar actions.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump declared: “A LETTER SENT BY PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP TO ALL NATO NATIONS AND, THE WORLD: ‘I am ready to do major Sanctions on Russia when all NATO Nations have agreed, and started, to do the same thing, and when all NATO Nations STOP BUYING OIL FROM RUSSIA’”, The Caspian Post reports via Trump's message in Truth Social.

He criticized NATO’s response to Moscow, saying the alliance’s commitment has been “far less than 100%,” and called the ongoing purchases of Russian oil by “some” members “shocking.”

Trump also suggested that NATO collectively impose tariffs ranging from 50 to 100 percent on China, arguing that China “has a strong control, and even grip, over Russia, and these powerful Tariffs will break that grip.”

He emphasized, “This is not TRUMP’S WAR (it would never have started if I was President!), it is Biden’s and Zelenskyy’s WAR,” adding, “I am only here to help stop it, and save thousands of Russian and Ukrainian lives.”

Previously, Trump had threatened secondary sanctions against countries importing Russian oil if the conflict in Ukraine, ongoing since 2022, showed no signs of resolution. He has already levied a 25% tariff on Indian goods due to India’s continued Russian oil imports.

Meanwhile, the G7 nations and the EU have cut trade relations and imposed a price cap on Russian oil. In response, Russia has increased oil sales to countries like China and India.

The European Union, consisting of 27 members, has committed to phasing out all Russian fossil fuel imports by 2028.
