Ukraine Strikes Major Power Substation in Russia’s Volgograd Region

Head of the Center for Countering Disinformation under Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) Andriy Kovalenko has said that Ukraine targeted one of Russia’s key energy infrastructure facilities in the Volgograd region.

Kovalenko said the strike hit the Balashovskaya substation, a 500 kV facility considered a vital part of Russia’s Southern Energy System, The Caspian Post reports via Ukrainian media.

“This is a key facility of Russia’s Southern Energy System, which supplies power to the Volgograd Military District, defense ministry sites, and major transport-energy hubs along the Saratov-Voronezh route. Earlier, Russia also lost a similar substation - Veshkayma,” Kovalenko wrote.
