Uzbekistan, Iran Explore Prospects for Interparliamentary Ties

Representatives of the parliaments of foreign countries participating in the 150th IPU Assembly, to be held in Tashkent from April 5 to 9, arrived in Tashkent.

They visited the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.

The Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis Nuriddin Ismailov met with a delegation led by the First Deputy Speaker of the Majles of Iran Hamid-Reza Haji Babaee.

It was noted that the official visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Iran in June 2023 marked the beginning of a new era in bilateral relations, Uzbekistan - Iran relations have reached the level of broad-format cooperation.

Hamid-Reza Haji Babaee expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and positively assessed the balanced, open, and constructive foreign policy and reforms carried out by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

“Holding the Assembly in Tashkent is a significant political event”, says Hamid-Reza Haji Babaee. “We are glad that cooperation between our countries, including inter-parliamentary ties, is expanding and strengthening”.

The exchange of experience in lawmaking and the intensification of dialogue on cultural and humanitarian exchanges were also discussed at the meeting.
