Armenia and Georgia have signed a readmission agreement which will enable the countries to maximally effectively manage migration flows.
The document was inked by Armenian Interior Minister Arpine Sargsyan and her Georgian counterpart Gela Geladze, The Caspian Post reports, citing Armenian media.
During the bilateral meeting held afterwards, Minister Geladze attached importance to the warm and friendly relations between the two countries and the ministries of interior. He said that frequent meetings contribute to the development of friendship and partnership.
The tactical communication between the law enforcement systems of the two countries is the most important tool in combating transnational crime, he said.
Minister Sargsyan emphasized that Armenia and Georgia not only share a common border but also have centuries-old friendship, strong cultural and strategic ties based on mutual respect between the two peoples.
A number of directions pertaining to the ministries’ activities were discussed.
