A bear attempted to break into a school in a village in Russia’s Irkutsk Region after being attracted by the smell of food from the school cafeteria.
The animal damaged the school’s entrance steps, tore off a lock and then tried to climb up a drainpipe to get inside. However, the pipe could not support its weight, and the bear fell to the ground, according to lenta.ru.
Hearing the noise, the school’s caretaker rushed outside and called for help from a boiler-room worker. The two men contacted emergency services by dialing 112.
The men later pursued the bear and caught up with it outside the village, where they killed the animal.
