A Lukoil refinery in Russia’s Komi Republic has reportedly come under a drone attack, with explosions and smoke observed in the city of Ukhta.
Local residents filmed the moment a drone flew overhead, with one eyewitness heard saying, “Another one is flying toward the refinery”. The footage quickly spread across regional Telegram channels, The Caspian Post reports via Russian media.
Witnesses say the target was the Lukoil-Ukhtaneftepererabotka plant. Thick smoke was reportedly seen rising above the area following the explosions.
The regional branch of Russia’s Emergency Situations Ministry (EMERCOM) confirmed that Ukhta was subjected to a drone attack and stated that emergency response teams were dispatched to the scene.
Local channels also report that several educational institutions and organizations in the city are being evacuated as a precautionary measure.
