Commonwealth of Independent States Eyes Unified Center to Combat Crime

Executive Secretary of the CIS Coordinating Council of Prosecutors General, Yuri Zhdanov, has proposed establishing a single center to coordinate crime-fighting efforts across the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

The proposal was made during the international conference “National Leader Heydar Aliyev - Author of the Constitution of Independent Azerbaijan” held in Azerbaijan’s Lachin city, The Caspian Post reports via local media.

Zhdanov stressed that in the modern era, illegal drug trafficking, smuggling, and property rights violations remain some of the most pressing challenges for both society and prosecutorial bodies. He noted that prosecutors are on the front lines in tackling these threats.

He also underscored the importance of collaboration in combating cybercrime, stating:

"It is essential to pool efforts to share best practices and information in the fight against cybercrime, and to mutually enhance the professional skills of prosecutors across CIS countries."
