A deadly road accident has shaken western Türkiye after a passenger bus overturned in Balıkesir Province, leaving three people dead and more than 20 injured.
The crash occurred in the Bandırma District along the Bandırma-Çanakkale highway near the Külefli neighborhood. According to initial reports, the bus lost control, slammed into the median, and flipped over, causing chaos and panic among passengers, The Caspian Post reports via Turkish media.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene within minutes. Police, firefighters, and medical teams worked to pull injured passengers from the wreckage before transporting them to nearby hospitals. At least 22 people were reported injured, some in serious condition.
Three victims died at the scene. Their bodies were later transferred to the morgue of Bandırma Training and Research Hospital.
The accident forced a temporary closure of the highway, disrupting traffic in the area. The road has since been reopened after recovery operations were completed.
The cause of the crash remains unclear, and a full investigation is now underway to determine what led to the tragic incident.
