Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday that neither Russia nor China has carried out any nuclear weapons tests, dismissing recent US allegations.
Earlier this month, Washington accused Beijing of secretly conducting a nuclear test in 2020 and called for a new, expanded arms control agreement that would include both China and Russia.
Peskov said Moscow had taken note of references to alleged tests involving the two countries, The Caspian Post reports, citing Anadolu.
“Neither the Russian Federation nor China has conducted any nuclear tests,” Peskov stated, rejecting the US claims and noting that Chinese officials have also firmly denied the accusations.
Last week, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian dismissed the allegations, saying the United States had “no factual ground at all.”
“The US has kept distorting and vilifying China’s nuclear policy as part of its political manipulation to seek nuclear hegemony,” Lin told reporters in Beijing.
