Explosion in Southern Moscow Injures Two Police Officers

Two police officers and another person have been killed in Moscow, Russia after an explosive device detonated on Yeletskaya Street.

Two traffic police officers noticed a suspicious individual near a police service vehicle. When they approached to detain the person, the explosive device was triggered, The Caspian Post reports via the Russian Investigative Committee.

As a result of their injuries, both police officers and the person near them died.

Emergency services quickly arrived, cordoning off the area as a precaution. Russia’s Investigative Committee announced a criminal case, though charges have not yet been specified.

Investigators and forensic experts are examining the site and reviewing CCTV footage, with medical and explosive analyses planned in the coming hours.
