A fire broke out in the attic of a 5,000-square-meter shoe factory in Tuzla district in Türkiye's Istanbul city, with flames spreading across the building’s roof.

The fire started at around 4:30 a.m. (GMT+3) on Kazlıçeşme Street in the Leather Industrial Zone, according to TRT Haber.

The blaze began in one section of the building, part of which was used for storage, before quickly spreading across the entire roof.

Firefighters, medical teams and police officers were dispatched to the scene. Fire crews are continuing to battle the blaze from eight different positions.

Flames have reached heights of up to two meters in some areas.
