Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has announced that President Vladimir Putin may visit India before the end of 2025, with preparations for the trip already underway.

Speaking at a press conference following talks in Moscow with Indian Minister of External Affairs Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Lavrov said, “Our high-level political dialogue, involving foreign ministries and other state bodies, is progressing very dynamically. Today, we discussed upcoming activities within this dialogue, including preparations for the visit of the Russian president to India before the end of this year,” The Caspian Post reports via Russian media.

Russia and India share a long-standing relationship characterized by strategic, political, economic, and cultural cooperation. The partnership has expanded into such areas as defense, energy, science and technology, and trade.

Defense and security cooperation is a cornerstone of the relationship, with India being one of the largest buyers of Russian military equipment. Both countries conduct joint military exercises and collaborate on technology transfers.

Energy ties are also strong, with Russia supplying oil, natural gas, and nuclear technology to India. Additionally, both nations work together on space exploration, scientific research, and infrastructure projects.

Politically, Russia and India maintain regular high-level dialogues and coordinate on international issues, including in multilateral forums like BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and the United Nations.
