A delegation of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Culture and Information and the Agency of Information and Mass Communications under the Administration of the President of Uzbekistan had a meeting in Tashkent.
The sides signed the 2025 Plan for Cooperation in Information Sphere, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kazakh media.
The document was signed in line with the tasks assigned following the visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Kazakhstan on August 8, during which Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Shavkat Mirziyoyev adopted joint statements and a decision on bilateral cooperation in the field of mass communications.
The plan aims at the exchange of media content, organization of trainings and workshops for mass media workers, refresher courses for press-secretaries, support of young journalists and joint fight against disinformation.
The representatives of the Kazakh Ministry underlined the importance of the integration of joint media projects and the necessity of developing tools to counter disinformation and fake news.
The parties agreed to organize press tours for mass media representatives to exchange experience between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
On top of that, during the meeting, Managing Director of the Kazakh President’s TV and Radio Complex Robert Murodyan informed the Uzbek side of the Silk Way TV Channel’s plans and prospects for enhancing cooperation and exchange of content with the Central Asian countries.
Following the discussion, the parties expressed readiness for mutual exchange of content.
From December 17 to 19, the Kazakh delegation has been participating in the VI Meeting of the Ministers and High Officials in charge of Media and Information of the Organization of Turkic States.
