Mass Food Poisoning Incident Sends Over 100 People to Hospital in Türkiye

A suspected food poisoning incident at a school event in Türkiye’s Kütahya province has sent 114 people to local hospitals, including dozens of pupils.

The incident occurred at Şule Mete Tetik Imam Hatip Secondary School in the Meydan neighborhood, where pupils and guests were served chicken pilaf during a school gathering, The Caspian Post reports via Haber7.

Shortly after the meal, many attendees began feeling unwell and sought medical assistance, either arriving at hospitals on their own or being transported by ambulance to Kütahya City Hospital and other healthcare facilities.

Health officials said a total of 114 people were treated for suspected food poisoning, including 96 pupils and 18 adults.

Most of those affected have since recovered. Some 113 patients have been discharged, while one person remains under medical observation as examinations continue.

An investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of the incident, including whether the food served at the event was contaminated.
