Montenegro will introduce visa requirements for citizens of Russia, Belarus, Türkiye, China and Saudi Arabia starting November 1, as Podgorica moves to bring its visa policy closer to European Union standards.

The country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the new visa regime is part of efforts to align Montenegro’s immigration and visa rules with EU requirements, The Caspian Post reports via RTVI.

“Thus, Podgorica is bringing its visa policy into line with the requirements of the European Union,” the ministry said in a statement.

Under a government decree, Montenegrin authorities will have the option to introduce temporary seasonal visa exemptions for citizens of certain countries.

This could allow Podgorica to ease entry requirements during periods when the country seeks to support tourism and manage seasonal visitor flows.

Travelers affected by the new rules will be able to apply for Montenegrin visas through the country’s diplomatic and consular missions as well as through VFS Global visa application centers.

Montenegro also plans to introduce an electronic visa system (e-Visa) in the future, allowing applicants to submit their documents online.
