Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan expressed confidence that the people of Armenia will uphold peace in the upcoming 2026 parliamentary elections.
Speaking during the 2026 budget bill debates in parliament, he stated, "We have led Armenia out of a geopolitical trap," The Caspian Post reports, citing Armenian media.
“We have reached a point where prospects are open to Armenia in all directions, and the Armenian people can decide with their sovereign will what vision of development they wish to pursue. The people of Armenia must uphold peace in the elections. I have no doubt for even a second that they will, because it is their peace, the peace of their children, families, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. This is the greatest tribute to all its martyrs and to all its past,” Pashinyan said.
The prime minister reaffirmed that peace has been established between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and the current task is to “nurture, strengthen, and institutionalize it.”
Armenia and Azerbaijan initialed a peace agreement on August 8 in Washington, D.C.
