Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered a three-day halt to strikes on Kyiv, beginning at midnight on September 5, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

“Indeed, such information was received. Supreme Commander-in-Chief President Vladimir Putin gave instructions not to strike Kyiv for three days, starting at 12 midnight today,” Peskov told Interfax.

The Kremlin spokesman said that the decision is linked to preparations for and the holding of meetings involving US President Donald Trump’s representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner in Kyiv.

The temporary pause comes as American representatives are expected to hold contacts in the Ukrainian capital.
