US defense company Raytheon, which produces missiles for the Patriot air defense system, is prepared to support their production in Ukraine, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

Zelenskyy made the remarks while speaking to journalists following his meeting with US President Donald Trump, according to RBC-Ukraine.

Zelenskyy said his adviser Pavlo Palisa had held talks with Raytheon representatives about the potential production project. Ukraine has also asked Trump to help accelerate the process, he added.

“We need licenses to prepare production of Patriot systems. Raytheon is ready, I asked President Trump to help with this. He reacted positively,” Zelenskyy said.

The Ukrainian president said the country plans to launch the project within one to one and a half years, describing it as a long-term initiative aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities.

“This is work for the long term, for the future,” Zelenskyy said.
