Russia Grants Visa-Free Travel to Chinese Tourists

Chinese travelers heading to Russia for short-term tourism or business can now enter the country visa-free for up to 30 days, according to a decree signed by the Russian president.

Under the decree, “citizens of the People’s Republic of China making tourist and business visits are hereby granted the right to enter Russia and stay in Russia for up to 30 days… without visas… until September 14, 2026, based on the principle of reciprocity”, The Caspian Post informs via Kazakh media.

The visa-free access applies to those visiting Russia for scientific, cultural, political, economic, and sporting events, as well as for transit.

However, the new rule does not cover travelers going to Russia for work, study, long-term stays, or those involved in international road transport as drivers, crew members, freight forwarders, or interpreters.

The decree has already taken effect.

China previously introduced a similar visa-free entry policy for Russians, also valid until September 14, 2026.
