Russia Probes Suspected Murder Attempt

Chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin has ordered a detailed report on the investigation into an attempted murder case in the Moscow region involving an explosive device.

According to the Investigative Committee, the incident occurred at a railway crossing in the city of Fryazino, where an unidentified device detonated inside a vehicle with a man inside. The blast caused shrapnel injuries to the victim’s lower leg, and he was subsequently hospitalized, The Caspian Post reports via Russian media.

Investigators are treating the case as attempted murder carried out in a manner dangerous to the public, as well as illegal trafficking of explosive materials.

The injured man is 50-year-old Sergey Sh. Shortly before the explosion, he had reportedly contacted emergency services, warning that a bomb might have been placed in his car.

Authorities are continuing forensic examinations and operational measures to determine the circumstances surrounding the blast and identify those responsible.
