The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB), together with the Interior Ministry, has revoked the Russian citizenship of eight people from Central Asia and the South Caucasus.

The FSB stated that the citizenship revocations were based on actions that allegedly posed a threat to Russia’s national security, The Caspian Post reports, citing TASS.

According to the agency, those stripped of their citizenship included residents of Stavropol Krai and Adygea. They were accused of spreading negative attitudes toward Russian culture, calling for sabotage and support for war veterans, making extremist statements, and inciting ethnic hatred.

Three other residents of the Tver Region were allegedly involved in the illegal trafficking of counterfeit alcohol and tobacco, fictitious registration of foreign nationals, and other offenses, according to the FSB.

A resident of the Chelyabinsk Region was also stripped of Russian citizenship. The FSB accused the individual of organizing an illegal house of worship and promoting the activities of a religious organization that is banned in Russia.
