Russia Rules Out Plague Case in Irkutsk After Investigation

Russia has officially ruled out a suspected plague case in Irkutsk following an investigation.

Irkutsk Region Governor Igor Kobzev said nearly 5,000 laboratory tests found no dangerous pathogens, Bloomberg reports.

An employee of the Irkutsk Anti-Plague Research Institute died from community-acquired pneumonia. She had been vaccinated against the dangerous infections she worked with.

Medical monitoring of everyone who had contact with the deceased woman has also been completed, with no dangerous pathogens detected.
