Russia and Ukraine have carried out a prisoner exchange, with 157 Russian servicemen returning from Ukrainian captivity in exchange for 157 Ukrainian soldiers.
The exchange was conducted as part of ongoing humanitarian efforts between Russia and Ukraine, The Caspian Post reports via Russian media.
In addition to the military personnel, three civilians from Russia’s Kursk Region were also returned home after being held in Ukraine.
The United Arab Emirates acted as a mediator in facilitating the return of the Russian servicemen. At present, 160 Russians freed from captivity are in Belarus, where they are receiving medical and psychological assistance.
Russian officials said the servicemen will be transported to Moscow in the near future for further treatment and rehabilitation.
