Russian Attacks Disrupt Heating in Ukraine's Sumy

Russian strikes hit Ukraine’s Sumy region, damaging residential buildings and disrupting heating systems.

Sumy Mayor Artem Kobzar said that the attacks targeted apartment blocks in the Zarichnyi district. One strike hit the seventh floor of a high-rise building, damaging the heating system and shattering multiple windows, The Caspian Post reports via Kobzar's message in Telegram.

Another strike struck a separate residential building, sparking a fire and damaging balconies and windows. Preliminary reports indicate no injuries or fatalities.

Earlier, Ukrainian air defense forces warned of attack drones flying over the Sumy region. Nationwide air raid alerts were also issued amid the threat of ballistic missiles and high-speed targets.

Nearby Konotop also came under attack. One private house was destroyed, while a school and several infrastructure facilities sustained damage.

Emergency services were deployed to the affected areas, and authorities said temporary housing would be provided for displaced residents. Damage assessment teams were expected to begin work early in the morning.

The strikes were part of a broader wave of overnight attacks across Ukraine, with explosions also reported in Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Dnipro, as officials continue assessing the full scale of the damage.
