A schoolgirl was stopped after arriving at a school in Türkiye’s Van Province carrying an unloaded pump-action shotgun.

The incident took place at Polatoglu School in the Tusba district. According to preliminary information, teachers and parents noticed the student carrying the shotgun and intervened, taking the weapon from her, Qazinform reports.

Police were called to the school and seized the shotgun. The student was then taken to a police station to provide a statement.

The incident quickly drew attention after a photograph showing the girl carrying the shotgun circulated on social media. Concerned parents also gathered at the school after learning about what had happened.
