The sixth meeting of the Azerbaijan-Türkiye Joint Committee on Customs Affairs was held in Azerbaijan’s Goygol District, bringing together representatives of the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan and Türkiye’s Ministry of Trade.

The sides discussed ways to strengthen customs cooperation, including studying Türkiye’s experience in implementing a new computerized transit system, according to Azertac.

The talks focused on simplifying customs procedures and speeding up the passage of freight vehicles across the border, an issue of particular importance for regional trade and transport links.

Officials also exchanged views on combating customs violations, risk management practices, the operation of authorized economic operators and the use of mirror customs statistics.

The agenda further covered opportunities for conducting joint customs operations and training programs to improve coordination between the two countries’ authorities.

A protocol summarizing the results of the meeting was signed at the conclusion of the session.
