Türkiye Detains Nearly 900 Suspects in Nationwide Anti-Drug Raids

More than 2.3 tons of drugs and over 4 million psychotropic pills have been seized during a nationwide anti-drug operation in Türkiye, while 894 suspects were detained, the country’s Interior Ministry said.

The operation was conducted over the past 10 days across 71 provinces as part of efforts to combat drug trafficking and distribution, The Caspian Post reports, citing TRT Haber.

More than 3,300 security personnel, 11 aircraft and 43 drug-detection dogs took part in the operation.

Authorities seized 2 tons, 367 kilograms and 634 grams of narcotics, along with more than 4 million psychotropic tablets, during the raids.

Of the 894 suspects detained, 424 were arrested and 93 were placed under judicial control measures. Legal proceedings against the remaining suspects are ongoing.
