Türkiye Launches Major Anti-Drug Operations Across 75 Provinces

Turkish law enforcement agencies have seized nearly 986 kilograms of narcotic substances and more than 1.5 million drug pills during large-scale anti-drug operations conducted across 75 provinces.

The nationwide operations were organized by the Anti-Narcotics Department of the General Directorate of Security in coordination with prosecutors' offices, TRT Haber reports.

A total of 1,945 operational teams, 4,863 law enforcement officers, 18 aircraft and 45 sniffer dogs were deployed as part of the campaign.

The operations resulted in the detention of 1,297 suspects on suspicion of involvement in drug trafficking.

Following court decisions, 714 suspects were arrested and remanded in custody, while 179 others were placed under judicial supervision.

Procedural proceedings against the remaining suspects are ongoing.

The nationwide campaign is part of Türkiye’s efforts to combat illegal drug trafficking and disrupt narcotics distribution networks across the country.
