Türkiye’s domestically developed KAAN fighter jet has begun pre-flight taxi tests, marking another major step in the development of the country’s next-generation combat aircraft.
New footage released by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) shows the latest KAAN prototype moving along a runway during ground testing, Anadolu Agency reports.
The prototype, which has not yet received its final paint scheme, is undergoing taxi tests ahead of future flight trials. The tests are part of a broader ground-test campaign designed to prepare the aircraft for its next stage of development.
KAAN’s first prototype completed its maiden flight in 2024, marking a milestone for Türkiye’s indigenous fighter jet program.
Following that initial flight, the program entered a new phase focused on producing additional prototypes and expanding the aircraft’s flight-test campaign.
Development and testing are now continuing with the P1 and P2 prototypes, which feature a more advanced systems architecture than the initial aircraft.
