Turkish defense company Roketsan has announced that its short-range KARAOK anti-tank missile system successfully hit an aerial target for the first time.

The company said that KARAOK, described as a mobile battlefield system, had demonstrated its ability to engage targets in the air as well as on the ground.

“With KARAOK extending its effectiveness against ground targets to aerial targets, we are strengthening our versatile engagement capability against diverse threats," the company said.

Roketsan CEO Murat Ikinci highlighted the expanded operational scope of the system, saying the KARAOK had successfully engaged an aerial target for the first time.

“With the different capabilities we integrate into our systems, we continue to provide effective solutions to changing needs in the field,” Ikinci said.

KARAOK is equipped with an infrared seeker that enables it to operate during both day and night. The system is designed to engage stationary and moving targets.
