Eight Turkish military officers suspected of ties to the Fethullah Terrorist Organization (FETÖ/PDY) have been detained while attempting to escape to the Greek islands from the coast of Bodrum.
The suspects were intercepted by security forces during their attempted illegal departure from Türkiye, The Caspian Post reports via Turkish media.
Among those detained were two colonels, four senior lieutenants, and two warrant officers - including the alleged mastermind behind the escape plan.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident. The detainees are accused of maintaining links with the FETÖ network, which Ankara designates as a terrorist organization responsible for orchestrating the failed coup attempt in July 2016.
