Türkiye and the United Kingdom are continuing efforts to procure Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets as part of Ankara’s plans to modernize its air force, Türkiye’s National Defense Ministry said Monday.

A team comprising ministry experts, members of the Air Force Command’s Aircraft Maintenance Working Group and officials from the General Directorate of Military Factories visited the Royal Air Force’s Coningsby Air Base in the UK from Sept. 15 to 17 to inspect aircraft maintenance facilities, the ministry said on the NSosyal platform, The Caspian Post reports, citing Anadolu Agency.

“The work on the Eurofighter Typhoon procurement project being carried out with the United Kingdom continues as part of the modernization efforts of our Air Force,” the ministry said.

The ministry described the visit as a “strategic” step toward planning aircraft maintenance and sustainment, ensuring the compatibility of technical infrastructure and deepening bilateral cooperation.

The inspection took place as Ankara and London continue negotiations and technical work related to Türkiye’s Eurofighter Typhoon procurement project, according to the ministry.
