The United Kingdom and France are reportedly exploring the possibility of providing Ukraine with nuclear or so-called “dirty” weapons.
The move, Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service claims, is intended to strengthen Kyiv’s position in negotiations and offset Western concerns about Ukraine’s ability to achieve a military victory over Russia, The Caspian Post reports via Russian media.
At the same time, Germany has reportedly refused to participate in the plans. A statement from the Russian intelligence press office described Berlin’s stance as “prudent” in declining what it called a dangerous venture.
Russian officials have previously voiced concern over Ukraine’s potential nuclear ambitions. Maria Zakharova, spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, highlighted her worries regarding statements made by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in 2022 about Ukraine possibly acquiring nuclear capabilities, marking the fourth anniversary of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine.
