Russia Highlights Positive Progress in Armenia-Azerbaijan Dialogue

The Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson stated that Moscow observes positive progress in the Armenia-Azerbaijan dialogue.

"Positive developments within the framework of dialogue between Yerevan and Baku, particularly the processes initiated to unblock transport infrastructure, including the continued supply of Russian grain to Armenia through Azerbaijani territory, point to the deepening of regional cooperation," Russian Foreign Ministry's Official Representative Maria Zakharova said at a press briefing in Moscow, The Caspian Post reports, citing Armenpress.

Zakharova emphasized that these developments underscore the importance of the 3+3 format, which focuses on strengthening cooperation in transportation, energy, and culture.

She added that the next 3+3 meetings are set to take place in Armenia and Azerbaijan, following an agreement made during the foreign ministers' meeting in 2024 in Istanbul, involving Armenia, Russia, Iran, Türkiye, and Azerbaijan.

"We have not yet received official information from our partners regarding the sequence of the meetings. We hope they will resolve this issue soon and share the relevant information with us. We would also like to see our Georgian colleagues at the conference. We have many common interests, and there will always be topics worth discussing," Zakharova said.

The first 3+3 meeting, a regional cooperation platform which was supposed to include Armenia, Russia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Türkiye, and Iran, was held in December 2021. Since then, several meetings have taken place, although Georgia has repeatedly refused to participate. Despite this, the format is still referred to as 3+3.
