Ukrainian forces have successfully struck two Russian naval vessels off the Crimean coast in the Black Sea, according to the Ukrainian defense ministry on Monday.

The Ukrainian defense ministry’s Main Intelligence Directorate said in a statement that the Russian Black Sea Fleet’s large landing ships-Project 775 Yamal and Project 1171 Nikolai Filchenkov-were hit in Sevastopol Bay during a drone strike carried out by Ukrainian special forces overnight between Saturday and Sunday, The Caspian Post reports, citing Xinhua.

The ministry stated that the attack disabled both Russian vessels, which are used in the ongoing conflict with Ukraine.

The Project 775 Yamal, built in 1988, is capable of carrying up to 500 tons of cargo, including armored vehicles and troops.

The Project 1171 Nikolai Filchenkov is designed to transport up to 1,000 tons of cargo and can carry dozens of armored vehicles along with a large landing force.
