Ukrainian forces have successfully halted a Russian offensive near the frontline town of Huliaipole in the Zaporizhzhia region, stabilizing the situation after several days of intense pressure.
According to the Southern Defense Forces, the 33rd Separate Assault Regiment - supported by assault and mechanized units - managed to stop the advance and prevent further breakthroughs, The Caspian Post informs via Ukrainian media.
Officials report that Russian troops had recently increased activity within a 10-kilometer zone around Huliaipole, attempting to push toward Zatyshshia. The escalation followed a Ukrainian regrouping, during which one unit made an uncoordinated withdrawal, temporarily exposing a vulnerable flank - an opportunity Russian forces tried to exploit.
Fighting in the area remains ongoing, and several Ukrainian soldiers are currently reported missing. The General Staff says defenders repelled around 20 attacks near Zatyshshia, Solodke, Chervone, as well as in the direction of Dobropillia, Pryluky, Varvarivka and Huliaipole.
