Uzbek President: Türkiye’s Reputation as Reliable Global Actor Strengthens

Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev lauded Türkiye’s growing global influence, describing it as a “reliable and influential player,” and credited President Erdoğan’s efforts for elevating Uzbek-Turkish relations to the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership.

Türkiye’s reputation as a dependable and influential force in global affairs continues to strengthen, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev declared on Tuesday, The Caspian Post reports, citing Yeni Şafak.

In a message to participants of the 29th Eurasian Economic Summit in Istanbul, published on his website, Mirziyoyev credited President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for elevating Uzbek-Turkish relations to the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership.

Symbolic Significance of Istanbul

Mirziyoyev noted that the priorities of Uzbek-Turkish relations are fully aligned with the summit’s key goals: expanding multilateral partnerships and sustainable development based on equality, trust, and mutual respect. He observed that over past decades, the summit has become a leading dialogue platform for politicians, business leaders, and experts. “Holding the summit in Istanbul carries special symbolic significance,” he said, adding that for centuries, this unique city has served as a bridge between Europe and Asia, fostering cultural, trade, and economic exchange.

Green Agenda and Environmental Leadership

The Uzbek president highlighted that “Türkiye’s prestige is growing as a reliable and influential player in international relations, capable of mobilizing efforts toward effectively resolving pressing issues on the global agenda.” He also addressed global responsibility regarding water and green resource shortages - a theme resonating with Central Asia, which is warming faster than the global average. Mirziyoyev noted Uzbekistan’s Green Space project, planting 200 million trees annually, including on the dried Aral Sea bed. Uzbekistan has reduced emissions by 35% and aims for a 50% cut by 2035 while implementing water-saving technologies. Türkiye and Uzbekistan continue to deepen cooperation in trade, defence, and renewable energy under the broader framework of Turkic state collaboration.
