The world’s largest passenger aircraft, an Emirates Airbus A380 flying from Dubai to Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport, is among the planes waiting to land amid the closure of Moscow’s airspace.
The aircraft is currently circling over Russia’s Penza Region, according to SHOT.
Due to its technical requirements, the Airbus A380 can land at only a limited number of airports in Russia. These include Sheremetyevo and Domodedovo in Moscow, both of which are currently closed, as well as Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg and Tolmachevo Airport in Novosibirsk.
All Moscow airports have temporarily suspended arrivals and departures. An air alert has also been declared at Sheremetyevo Airport.
Around 10 aircraft are currently waiting to land.
