Azerbaijan Shines in Sambo at CIS Games with Two More Medals

Two more Azerbaijani athletes have added to the country’s medal tally at the 3rd CIS Games in sambo wrestling.

Nihad Rahimov claimed a gold medal in the 64 kg weight category after defeating Russia’s Artem Kharisov in the final, The Caspian Post reports.

Meanwhile, Rustam Gasimzade earned silver in the 58 kg division following a final-round loss to a Russian opponent.

Earlier in the competition, Abdullatif Musayev secured Azerbaijan’s first gold medal by triumphing in the 53 kg category, overcoming Uzbekistan’s Gamzat Maksetbaev in the final match.

The 3rd CIS Games, featuring 1,624 athletes from 13 nations, are set to conclude on October 8.
