Tajikistan has secured a major boost for its flagship energy project after signing a $100 million financing agreement with the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) to support construction and infrastructure work at the Rogun Hydropower Plant.
The agreement was signed in Dubai by Fayziddin Kahhorzoda, Tajikistan’s Minister of Finance, and Muhammad Saif Al Suwaidi, Director General of ADFD, The Caspian Post reports via Tajik media.
The funds will be directed to Lot 2 of the Rogun project-one of Tajikistan’s most strategic national initiatives-aimed at strengthening energy security and significantly expanding electricity generation capacity. Once fully completed, the plant is expected to play a pivotal role in meeting domestic demand and boosting regional power exports.
